Turnkey Closed Shed Factory for OES Group — Hamriyah Free Zone Phase 2

Turnkey Closed Shed Factory for OES Group — Hamriyah Free Zone Phase 2
Category: Ongoing Projects

When one of the UK’s fastest-growing offshore-energy manufacturers chose Sharjah for its first Middle East factory, it appointed one contractor for the whole job. Midas EPC is delivering OES Group’s new manufacturing facility in Hamriyah Free Zone Phase 2 as a full turnkey project — a closed shed production building with an office block and service block, from foundations and steel structure through complete MEP to a Sharjah Civil Defence approved fire fighting system, under a single contract. Ground was broken in September 2026 and the structure is going up fast.

A UK Manufacturer’s First Middle East Factory

OES Group designs, manufactures and installs the systems that keep offshore structures from corroding and fouling: impressed current cathodic protection, sacrificial anodes, marine growth prevention and anti-fouling systems for offshore wind farms, ships and ports. From its base in Gateshead and a second plant in the Netherlands, it has protected foundations on projects from Scotland’s Inch Cape and Moray West to Poland’s first offshore wind farm, and grown from a three-person consultancy to a £15 million exporter in five years.

The Hamriyah facility is the next step: a manufacturing base in the Gulf, beside a deep-water port, within reach of the region’s offshore, marine and port customers. For a company whose products exist to make assets last, the contractor’s own compliance record matters — every system on this plot is delivered by a Midas division holding the relevant authority approval.

Closed Shed Construction in Hamriyah Free Zone

A closed shed is the workhorse of industrial Hamriyah: a steel portal frame on reinforced concrete foundations, fully clad in insulated roof and wall sheeting, with a heavy-duty floor slab designed for the plant, racking and vehicle loads inside. Unlike an open shed, it is a conditioned, secured production space — which brings ventilation, lighting, power density and fire compartmentation into the design from day one.

The office block and service block are built alongside as reinforced concrete structures with blockwork, finishes and external works. Our industrial civil construction and steel fabrication and erection teams run foundations, steel erection and cladding as overlapping activities rather than one after the other, which is why this structure has gone up as quickly as it has.

Full MEP for a Manufacturing Facility

The industrial MEP works are delivered by Midas Electromechanical Contracting, the group’s SEWA Grade 1 approved electrical contractor: LV distribution and power for production equipment, factory and office lighting, earthing and lightning protection, HVAC for the offices and ventilation for the shed, plumbing and drainage for the service block, and the water supply for the fire system.

With MEP in the same contract as the civil works, services are planned into the structure — cable routes, openings and plant bases are built in, not cut in later — and the facility is energised in step with the building, not months after it.

Fire Fighting by a Civil Defence Approved Contractor

A manufacturing facility in Hamriyah Free Zone is a regulated fire-safety environment under the Hamriyah Free Zone Authority and Sharjah Civil Defence. The fire fighting system and fire alarm system are designed, installed and commissioned by Midas Electromechanical Contracting, a Sharjah Civil Defence approved fire fighting contractor — from Civil Defence drawing approval through pump, tank and pipework installation, testing, and the final inspection that releases the completion certificate.

One contract covering civil, MEP and fire removes the interface that most often delays a Hamriyah completion certificate: a civil contractor waiting on a separate fire contractor, and both waiting on the authority.

Building in Hamriyah Free Zone Phase 2

Phase 2 is the zone’s newer expansion area, with direct road access to Dubai and the northern emirates, plots sized for manufacturing, and Hamriyah Port on the doorstep — which matters for a company that ships to offshore projects worldwide. The approval path — HFZA building permit through an approved consultant, Sharjah Civil Defence approval of the fire drawings — is one Midas has run on more than 50 industrial facilities as a contractor in Hamriyah Free Zone. For international companies setting up here for the first time, our Hamriyah Free Zone factory setup guide covers permits, utilities and timelines.

One Contract, One Group

OES Group signs one contract with Midas EPC. Behind it, Midas Building Contracting delivers the civil and structural works, Midas Electromechanical Contracting delivers MEP and fire protection, and Midas Metal Industries fabricates structural steel when a project calls for it. One programme, one site team, one point of accountability: that is what we mean by turnkey EPC contractor in Sharjah.

Progress

September 2026 — Ground-breaking ceremony held on site with OES Group and the Midas team. Site mobilised.

October 2026 — Foundations complete and structural works well advanced; the project is running ahead of programme.

A fully clad steel portal-frame building on reinforced concrete foundations with an insulated roof and walls, a heavy-duty floor slab and controlled access — a secured, conditioned production space, as opposed to an open shed used for covered storage. It is the standard factory building type in Hamriyah Free Zone.

Everything from HFZA building permit to completion certificate: foundations and steel structure, cladding, offices and service block, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire fighting and fire alarm systems, and the authority approvals and inspections for each — delivered under one contract with one contractor accountable.

A deep-water port inside the zone, 100% foreign ownership, plots sized for manufacturing, and road access to Dubai and the northern emirates. For an exporter such as OES Group, a Hamriyah facility puts production beside the quay that ships it.

Midas Electromechanical Contracting — a SEWA Grade 1 approved electrical contractor and Sharjah Civil Defence approved fire fighting contractor — delivers the electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting and fire alarm scopes, under the same contract as the civil and structural works by Midas Building Contracting.
