Shyam Middle East FZC — the first international venture of Shyam Steel India, one of the Indian subcontinent’s largest steel manufacturers — was inaugurated in Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, in July 2026, with an initial investment of AED 60 million and a phased roadmap of AED 150 million. Midas Building Contracting delivered the steel plant construction as Main Contractor.

Project facts
Being entrusted with a steel giant’s first facility outside India is the project’s own statement. The scope covered the full civil and structural execution: a multi-storey corporate office serving as the regional headquarters; two closed sheds for manufacturing and secure storage plus one open shed for material handling; and the critical infrastructure — a dedicated pump room, security building and the substation powering the industrial machinery.
A greenfield steel plant is a programme of dependencies: the substation must energise before the machinery installs, the sheds must close before equipment arrives, and the office must be ready when the client’s team lands in a new country. Delivering that sequence as Main Contractor — to an inauguration attended at group level — is the credential this page exists to record. The sheds’ steel structures were erected by Midas Metal Industries, the group’s steel fabrication division — fitting work for a steel manufacturer’s own plant.
A steel manufacturing plant — furnace-adjacent operations, industrial machinery, an occupied headquarters building — sits squarely in Sharjah Civil Defence’s regulated territory. The facility’s fire fighting and fire alarm systems, along with the full MEP scope, were designed, installed and commissioned by Midas Electromechanical Contracting, a Sharjah Civil Defence approved fire fighting contractor and the group’s SEWA Grade 1 approved electrical division — with the fire water tank fabricated in-house by Midas Metal Industries. Construction, steel, MEP and fire approvals: one group, one contract.
Shyam’s arrival is part of the wave covered in Sharjah’s 2026 industrial outlook: global manufacturers choosing Sharjah as their manufacturing base, and choosing established Hamriyah contractors to derisk the entry.
