Storage Shed Expansion at Tricore Surfactants’ Chemical Plant

Storage Shed Expansion at Tricore Surfactants’ Chemical Plant
Clients: Tricore Surfactants Technologies
Category: Completed Projects

Chemical plant construction has a discipline all of its own when the plant is already running. For Tricore Surfactants Technologies FZC — part of the prestigious Tristar Group, whose high-performance CABS plant is the first of its kind in the region — Midas built the facility’s closed storage shed expansion (Expansion-1) inside a live, operating surfactants campus in Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, completing the work in 2023.

Chemical Plant Construction Inside a Live Facility

Building a 1,095 m² storage shed is routine work — until it sits inside an operating chemical plant. Tricore’s ~25,000 m² campus runs process plants, a tank farm, an effluent treatment plant and laboratory facilities around the construction zone, which turns every stage of the build into a coordination exercise: hot works and crane lifts permitted around hazardous storage, site logistics threaded through a working plant’s traffic, and a programme built so that not a day of production was disrupted.

The shed’s steel structure was fabricated and erected by Midas Metal Industries, with Midas Building Contracting delivering the civil works — from foundations to the HFZA-approved handover of the ground-floor structure.

Fire Fighting Systems by a Civil Defence Approved Contractor

A storage building inside a surfactants plant is a regulated fire-safety environment — Sharjah Civil Defence treats chemical-campus storage with particular scrutiny. The fire fighting and fire alarm systems for the project were designed, installed and commissioned by Midas Electromechanical Contracting, a Sharjah Civil Defence approved fire fighting contractor and the group’s SEWA Grade 1 approved electrical division — keeping the approvals a hazardous-materials environment demands inside the same delivery team as the construction itself.
